Paris is one of the most visited cities in the world known for the Eiffel Tower, top class museums, its packed cafés, and unfortunately also for being a rather unfriendly place for tourists.

But, that is all to change with the city’s chamber of commerce and regional tourism committee embarking on a campaign to improve the friendliness of its taxi drivers, waiters, hotel managers and sales staff.

A six page booklet entitled “Do you speak Touriste?” contains basic phrases in eight languages and advice on how best to deal with different nationalities.

Around 30,000 copies of the handbook have been distributed.

One in 10 jobs in the city are directly related to the 29 million visitors to Paris.
