Irish low cost airline Ryanair has posted record earnings.

Passenger numbers were up by three million compared to the same period last year, revenue was boosted by charging more for luggage and in flight refreshments.

Shares jumped more than sixpercent on the back of the announcement.

But Ryanair is warning profit growth may be slowed in the coming months due to higher fuel prices and the cost of new planes.
