Car bombs hit Dagestan capital Makhachkala

At least three people were killed on May 20 by two car bombs in Makhachkala, capital of the Russian republic of Dagestan.

Local media reported that more than 20 people had been wounded by the blasts, which took place minutes apart.

Dagestan is facing an insurgency by Islamist militants who want to carve out an independent state in Southern Russia.
