Major FBI investigation underway into Boston marathon bombing

Authorities in Boston have held a briefing on the latest developments in the aftermath of the bombing of the Boston marathon.

The number of injured now stands at 176 with 17 in a critical condition. Police say three people were killed and had no involvement in planting the devices.

Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick said: “It’s important to clarify that two and only two devices were found yesterday. Other parcels, all other parcels in the area of the blast have been examined, but there are but there are no unexploded bombs”

The FBI has launched a major investigation and called on the public to cooperate over the coming days.

A prayer service for the victims is to go ahead in the city tomorrow.

To date no one has been arrested and no group or individual has claimed responsibility.
