A 14 metre high statue of Pope John Paul II has been unveiled on a hill above the Polish city of Czestochowa.

The 7 tonne structure fibreglass creation has caused controversy in his native Poland as he was known as modest man who would have preferred another expression of memory that would support the poor and sick.
