A Spanish icon who became one of the country’s first Hollywood stars has died. Sara Montiel was 85.
In the early 50s she became known to an American audience, appearing alongside names like Burt Lancaster and Gary Cooper. She admitted brief affairs with James Dean and the writer Ernest Hemingway. She rubbed shoulders with the aristocracy of tinseltown.
Her private life read something like the script of a Hollywood movie – with a string of marriages and long term relationships that ended in divorce or some other kind of loss.
Sara Montiel died at home in Madrid.
