One of the world’s oldest luxury hotels, the Hotel de Crillon in Paris, has closed down for a two-year renovation.

At the weekend, regular guests gathered for a star-studded goodbye to the institution, which overlooks the Place de la Concorde on the Champs Elysees.

Built in 1775, the famed hotel was commissioned by King Louis XV.
