Reports from Indian police say five men have confessed to the gang rape of a Swiss tourist who was on holiday there with her husband.

Investigators say he was tied up nearby while his wife was attacked.

They were on a cycling trip in the central state of Madhya Pradesh and were camping in a forest.

The couple were also robbed.

After treatment in hospital, the pair made their way to the capital New Delhi.

The attack comes just three months after a student was gang raped and murdered, highlighting a major problem for women’s security in India.
