Police in Northern Ireland say they have foiled an attempt to attack a police station with mortar bombs, after recovering the weapons from a van in a residential area of Londonderry on Monday morning. About 100 homes were evacuated in the province’s second city. Detectives believe a militant nationalist group was responsible after arresting three men.
