Talks to form the world’s biggest aerospace and defence company have collapsed.

Britain’s BAE Systems and the Franco-German EADS had been in final negotiations since yesterday on the 35-billion euro project.

In a statement, BAE said it had become clear that the interests of the governments could not be reconciled with each other nor the two companies, and the best thing was to end the discussions.
