Hopes fade for climbers as search wound up

The Nepalese authorities say the operation to find three climbers swept away by an avalanche in the Himalayas on Sunday will be wound up on Thursday evening.

Eight people are known to have died when their overnight camp was engulfed by a cloud of snow and ice hurtling down Mount Manaslu.

Four French, one Spanish, one German and one italian climber died, along with a Nepali guide.

Those still missing are two French and one Canadian climber.
