Five Cameroon boxers that went missing during the London Olympics have re-appeared at a Gym in the British capital.
The boxers disappeared from the Olympic village along with a swimmer and a footballer after they were beaten in their bouts during the Games last month. The five men hope to stay in the United Kingdom and eventually compete under the British flag.
Blaise Yepmou Mendouo, who competed in the super heavyweight category, said: “The Olympics were just a way to show we are elite sportsmen. But now what we really want is to become professional boxers and we have opted for England. Even ahead of the Olympics we had opted for England.”
So far the athletes have not broken any laws in staying in the UK. Their Olympic accreditation acts as a temporary visa, but does expire in November at which point they will seek an extension.
Until then the five men continue to train in order to fulfil their dreams in becoming professional boxers.
