Police in London have arrested five men and one woman suspected of preparing terrorist attacks.
One man was detained on the street in west London, whilst the other arrests were made after police stormed addresses in the east and west.
Searches are also being carried out at eight homes across the capital.
The operation is said to not be linked to the Olympics starting in just over three weeks.
“I looked out of the window and I could just see the police entering the actual building. They literally blew that door off to get into the building. They had police around the back and around the front. I was a bit wary of what was going on,” said one witness.
In an unrelated operation, armed police closed part of the M6 motorway in both directions, after smoke vapour from electronic cigarette sparked a scare on a coach operated by the Megabus company.
Emergency crews, dog handlers and an army bomb disposal team were onsite at the stretch of road about 190 kilometres north of London.
