The German Pirate Party is holding a convention discussing how to capitalise on success that has made them the country’s third-strongest political force.

They have chosen Bernd Schloemer, a government official in the Defence Ministry, as their new party chairman.

Several European countries have Pirate Parties – who mainly focus on internet freedom and transparency – but Germany’s group is the strongest politically and has 25,000 members.
