At least two tornadoes have torn through the Dallas-Fort Worth area in the US state of Texas, ripping apart buildings and tossing roofs and debris into the air.

No injuries were reported due to alarm sirens sounding, giving residents time to seek shelter in basements or wherever they could.

All planes have been grounded indefinitely at Dallas international airport – the eighth busiest in the world.

One tornado ripped through a trailer park, throwing one truck up to 30 metres in the air.

The US National Weather Service has launched an emergency tornado watch in northeastern Texas as conditions continue to be ripe for more storms.
