The leaders of Spain’s two main labour unions have called for a general strike later this month to protest against government reforms.

New rules cut the amount of compensation workers need to be paid when laid off.

The strike follows massive demonstrations earlier this year.

Mariano Rajoy’s government argues the reforms will create jobs in the long term.
