This years Golden Globe awards have been held in Los Angeles with Hollywood’s great and good putting in appearances.

French star Jean Dujardin picked up the best comedy Golden Globe for his role in the black-and-white silent film ‘The Artist’.

Finally the Frenchman has a face that fits: “An agent said to me ‘you’ll never do movies. Your face is too expressive, too big,” he said.

George Clooney won best actor in a drama for his role in “The Descendants”, which also took best film award.

Best foreign language film went to the Iranian offering ‘A Separation’, which tells the story of a married couple forced to choose whether to leave Iran for the future of their child or remain in the country to care for an ailing parent.

Of some of the other awards, Meryl Streep, as expected, took best actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady” and Martin Scorsese went home with the best director globe for his 3-D family film “Hugo”.
