Rescue workers in southeastern Turkey are fighting to free people still trapped by a powerful earthquake.

More than 260 people are known to have been killed with more than 1,000 others hurt.

But the delicate operation to sift and search through the rubble is ongoing as hundreds are still missing.

Sunday’s 7.2 magnitude quake struck the city of Van and the town of Ercis, some 100 kilometres to the north, reducing remote villages to rubble.
