The penguin nick-named Happy Feet who was released back into the wild after being stranded in New Zealand has vanished without trace.

Concerns were raised when the tracking device fitted to the emperor penguin stopped sending signals en route back to his antarctic home.

Scientists fear Happy Feet has become a Happy Meal.
