Isolated fighting continues in Tripoli

While many Libyans have been celebrating what they see as a new dawn, some confusion is strongly expected to be the norm for quite some time. The euronews correspondent in Tripoli has been in the thick of developments.

By telephone, Mustafa Bag said: “Fighting is still going on in the city centre and the outskirts. The rebels are highly motivated after entering central Tripoli yesterday. But later, when people left Green Square, towards five o’clock in the morning, clashes erupted, especially from 6 to 8 am. Things are complicated now. I spoke with a rebel commander, and he told me that Gaddafi has already left. He said the clashes are with the mercenaries that Gaddafi brought in from other parts of Africa. But I can not personally confirm that Gaddafi has left the capital or the country. It looks like Gaddafi’s chance of returning is nearly zero, because he has lost all his power.”
