Police in Moscow and St. Petersburg have detained nearly 100 opposition members who staged sit-down protests.
The demonstrators called on voters to boycott the upcoming parliamentary elections.
They also demanded the upholding of freedom of assembly rights enshrined in the Russian Constitution.
