Some people will go to sickening lengths to prove a point.

So it was with three Germans who scoffed as many cucumbers as they could in five minutes in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, to prove that it’s safe to eat them again after the recent E.Coli outbreak.

The well-intentioned publicity stunt was the work of the German Vegetarian Association.

“We want to show with this contest that one can again eat tomatoes and cucumbers”, said their spokesman Sebastian Zösch.
