Mohamed Bin Hammam of Qatar has withdrawn his candidacy to become FIFA president, amid a bribery scandal at football’s governing body.
Bin Hammam pulled out ahead of his scheduled appearance today before the organisation’s ethics committee which is investigating the allegations.
Current FIFA president Sepp Blatter was also due to appear, accused of failing to look into the claims.
Hoping for another term, he is now the only candidate in Wednesday’s election for the top job.
Both men deny any wrongdoing as does Fifa Vice President Jack Warner, who is also being investigated.
