After reports he was injured Colonel Gaddafi announced on Libyan state television on Friday night that he was unhurt and “in a place where you cannot reach me.”

The message was in audio form only, accompanied by patriotic videos.

The voice sounded like Gaddafi, but like pictures released earlier in the day it was impossible to confirm where or when it had been recorded.

He taunted the NATO forces who had again bombed his compound in Tripoli on Thursday, igniting the reports of his injury, as “cowards”.

The report initially came from the Bishop of Tripoli Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli, and was relayed by Italy’s foreign minister.

In a further development Spanish radio said a source at the International Criminal Court says arrest warrants will be issued for Gaddafi, his son and espionnage chief.
