Misery continues for Misrata as bombs fall

Forces loyal to Muammar Gaddafi have continued to pound Misrata for a fourth consecutive day.

This amateur video appears to show some of the destruction inside the city. According to rebels, food industry plants have been the targets of the latest attacks. At least six people have been killed with up to 50 others hurt in an early morning bombardment.

Misrata is the rebel’s only major stronghold in Libya’s west. Cut off by Gaddafi’s troops for several weeks, hundreds of civilians are believed to have died there.

Fierce fighting is also said to be taking place in and around Ajdabiyah. Rebels there had been hoping to push west to try to recapture lost ground, most notably the oil port of Brega. Dozens of vehicles have been fleeing the area towards the eastern rebel-held city of Benghazi.
