Dozens of anti-government protesters in Yemen are reported to have been wounded in clashes with police.

Live rounds, tear gas and batons are said to have been used to break up demonstrations in the southern town of Taiz.

There have been weeks of unrest, with protesters calling for the resignation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

But he has made a fresh call for an end to the violence, making it clear he has no intention of quitting.
