Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has appeared in public to rally a gathering of his supporters from the city ramparts in Tripoli.
A defiant Gaddafi vowed to triumph over his enemies. He urged those gathered in the city’s Green Square to protect Libya and its petroleum industry.
“Make sure these liars know the truth. These people and the media as well, it is all a string of lies. If my people didn’t love me, I could not have stayed in power,” Gaddafi told the crowd.
Gaddafi, who has lost swathes of his country to
rebels including it is reported parts of Tripoli, added that when necessary, he will open up Libya’s military arsenals to arm its people.
