Egypt’s pro-democracy movement enters its twelfth day with Hosni Mubarak still clinging on to power.

In Tahrir Square in central Cairo people were milling around the demonstrator’s camp in the early morning – waiting to see what the day will bring.

One plan afoot is for Mubarak to stay on in a symbolic role but hand over real power to his vice-president, Omar Suleiman, until elections in September.

But apart from the legal problems the idea poses, it is far from clear whether it would satisfy opposition leaders or the public which still insists nothing short of Mubarak’s resignation will suffice.
