Thousands of anti-government protesters have once again started gathering in Cairo’s Tahrir Square, many having camped out overnight.
Among the demonstrators there appears to be an intensifying feeling the uprising is nearing a climax.
‘‘We’re calling on this regime to step down, and calling on President Hosni Mubarak that we will not let anyone from his government be appointed,’‘ one man said
‘‘All our lives we’ve been oppressed, we’ve always wished to speak and to demonstrate, we were always living in fear, now we are all united Muslims and Christians,’‘ another woman said.
Such demands have also been reflected in much of the Egyptian press, with one headline declaring the demonstrators had been waiting for so much more from Mubarak’s speech.
