This is the man who could now prove to be President Obama’s biggest threat.

Republican John Boehner is in line to become the third most important man in American politics.

He is expected to become Speaker of the US House of Representatives in January, after his party took control from the Democrats.

Boehner became overwhelmed as the news sank in.

“I’ve spent my whole life chasing the American dream,” he said.

John Boehner has been Republican leader in the House for 3 years and has 20 years experience as a legislator.

He has promised to cut spending and reduce the size of government and sent a tough message to President Obama.

“We must remember it is the President who sets the agenda for our government. The American people have sent an unmistakable message to him tonight,” he said. “That message is change.”

President Obama quickly phoned Boehner calling for cooperation.

He knows know with him at the helm of the US Lower House, the next 2 years of his term in office just got a lot harder.
