It’s the strikes at France’s refineries which are causing the most disruption, and public concern.
Workers have been blockading the country’s 12 refineries for more than a week. Their action has already seen some petrol stations running dry, and to fuel shortages at France’s airports.

Air France union action prompted the French aviation authority to ask airlines to reduce operations on Tuesday, by 50 per cent at Paris Orly and 30 per cent elsewhere, to lessen the impact of delays or cancellations.

Polls suggest seven out of ten French people still support the strikes, but if the petrol runs out and there’s no way of getting around, that might change.
