Not many people ever get the chance to see a masterpiece like Boticelli’s Birth of Venus up close. Now an Italian company’s put high resolution images online, allowing you to zoom in close enough to even see the cracks in the paint.

It’s not the first time the company has produced such quality images of art. But new developments mean there’s now even more detail.

Hundreds of pictures of different parts of the piece of art are taken. These are used to produce images with resolutions of up to twenty-eight billion pixels – providing an in-depth look at paintings like Carravagio’s Bacchus.
