At least 14 people have been confirmed dead after a passenger plane plunged to the ground in Venezuela. But more than 30 others survived the crash, the exact cause of which is unknown.
The aircraft was on a domestic route between the Caribbean island of Margarita and Puerto Ordaz. The pilot is said to have reported technical problems shortly before it came down near the industrial city.
Owned by the state-run airline Conviasa, the ATR-42 turboprop plane had 51 people on board.
With the injured being treated in hospital, several people were unaccounted for and search teams were continuing to look through the wreckage.
The plane crashed near the gates of a giant steel mill but no workers on the ground were hurt.
