Around 150 hot air balloons are taking to the skies of the south-western UK city of Bristol this weekend as part of the annual four-day festival.

More than half a million people from as far afield as the US, Dubai, Holland and Switzerland are expected to attend the 32nd edition of the festival, according to organisers.

Balloons of all shapes and sizes will take part in the event, which this year marks the 50th anniversary of modern ballooning, when propane rather than gas was first used in the United States.
