A rocket, thought to be a Grad missile fired from outside Jordan has hit a hotels area in the port of Aqaba on the Red Sea. The interior ministry says four people have been injured, one seriously.

Israeli radio said a dawn salvo of five rockets had been fired at neighbouring Eilat, with at least one reportedly veering off course and falling into the sea, and one other hitting the ground close to the Jordanian frontier.

It appears the rocket that hit Jordan struck a main road close to the Intercontinental hotel. Israeli police in Eilat say the rockets may have been fired from the Egyptian Sinai, from where militants have operated in the past.
