Volvo delivered forecast-beating second-quarter earnings, due to a pick up in demand for trucks as well as cost cuts and growth in its construction division.

The world’s second largest lorry maker reported a second-quarter pre-tax profit of 476 million euros as truck sales rose by 24 percent year-on-year

Market leader Daimler last week also announced a surprisingly robust second quarter for its trucks unit.
