Apple has bowed to consumer pressure and offered a free case to all owners of its iPhone 4 to prevent reception problems.
Users have complained the phone’s design means it loses its signal when held in a particular way.
A contrite Apple boss Steve Jobs insisted reception problems were a common industry complaint:
“If you are still not happy before or after you get free case, as we have said, you can bring your iPphone back undamaged within 30 days for a full refund.”
Apple has sold over three million iPhone 4s in the three weeks since the launch.
Industry watchers say the so-called “Antennagate” is less about the iPhone’s flaws and more about Apple’s slow response to complaints.
