It has been confirmed that Spain will be the 2010 football world champions, that’s if you believe in the predictions of soccer’s most consistent pundit, Paul the octopus.

Given the choice between the two finalists Spain and The Netherlands Paul plummed for the Spanish tank straight away chobbling on the awaiting muscle inside.

Housed in his German aquarium and renowned for his psychic powers the oracle octopus has turned into a global celebrity for his uncanny ability to predict the winner of all of Germany’s matches.

In fact, Paul’s predictions have proved so accurate some German fans called for a public grilling following the bitter defeat to Spain in the semi-final.

One crumb of comfort for Dutch fans, Paul has so far only focused his tentacles on Germany’s matches.
