Germany and Argentina face off in the World Cup quarter-finals today and fans from Berlin to Buenos Aires have been getting in the party mood.

450,00 supporters are expected to line the German capital’s Fan Mile and Die Mannschaft’s followers are as confident as ever.

“Germany will win for sure,” one female fan said.

“It will be 3-2 after extra time to Germany,” this Berlin resident said.

But the Argentines fully expect Diego Maradona’s men to march on to the semi-finals, avenging their 4-2 penalty defeat to Germans four years ago.

“I think Messi will get one as will Tevez. Sorry Germany, but we’re going to win this one. It will be our revenge,” this fan said.

If the light blue and whites go all the way, Maradona will follow in the footsteps of German legend Franz Beckenbauer by captaining and coaching his country to World Cup success.

He led Argentina out in Mexico in 1986, the last time the nation won the trophy.
