Israelis abused us, say activists

Activists deported from Israel have been speaking about their ordeals. Many of those on the ships were Turks, but there were also numerous people from EU countries, the US and even Israel.

Turkish pro-Palestinian activist Nilufer Cetin said:
“I’m just happy that my baby is small enough not to remember all that happened. But if a trip was organised in the future I will not hesitate to take part in it with my child.”

Arriving back in Athens, Greek pro-Palestinian activist Michalis Grigoropoulos said: “The violence used against us was physical and psychological. Some of the people on our ship were hit with electrical shocks. They held guns to our heads as we sat on the ground. They took videos of us, trying to humiliate us.”

Two Germans who have arrived back are a former Left Party member of parliament and a current MP. They say they felt as if they had been kidnapped, saying international law has been violated.
