Times Square in New York City and its business as usual following Saturday’s car bomb attempt, which led to the evacuation of the Manhattan landmark.
The US has launched a massive hunt for those behind the failed attack and are treating claims that the Pakistani Taliban were responsible with caution.
NYPD Police Commissioner is Raymond Kelly:
“Although a Taliban bomb maker has claimed on the Internet that the car bomb was placed in Times Square to avenge mujahadeen fighters, we have no evidence to support this claim. Another claim of responsibility emailed to a local news organisation is being investigated.”
In the vehicle investigators found three propane tanks, one had fireworks attached, two petrol tanks, flash powder, two alarm clocks and a pressure cooker pot full of wires and fireworks along with eight bags of fertiliser.
The NYPD say is was fortunate the device failed to detonate.
