Danone cautious on sales despite Q1 rise

Danone has withdrawn health claim applications on two of its bestselling yogurts – Activia and Actimel – as some brokers voiced concern the European Food Safety Authority might reject them.

At the same time the French food group issued a cautious full-year sales and profit forecast because the economic climate remains soft.

The caution comes despite a seven percent increase in like-for-like first-quarter sales.
