Football’s world governing body has again insisted that the controversial France-Ireland World Cup qualifier will not be replayed.
Television viewers clearly saw the French captain Thierry Henry handle the ball twice as he set up a goal for William Gallas which knocked the Irish out. The referee missed the incident and awarded the goal. Henry himself has now said a re-match would be the fairest solution, and the Irish prime minister has also demanded a new game. But FIFA ruled that out.
