With only six months to go before a general election in the UK, today’s Queen’s Speech has been viewed as the most political in 12 years.
Pledges are in place to prevent bankers taking reckless risks and to narrow the gap between rich and poor. Going green is also a key priority for the Government. But with an average bill taking 240 days to pass, it remains to be seen whether any of this legislation will go through in time. A general election is expected on May 6th 2010.
