A rapid-fire series of bomb and mortar attacks in Baghdad has killed around 75 people and wounded more than 300 in the heavily guarded Green Zone, which includes government offices and embassies.
Damage was serious outside ministry buildings. Windows where the parliament sits were shattered. Trucks parked nearby had been loaded with explosives. The attacks come six years to the day after a truck killed mostly United Nations staff in Baghdad. In the wake of that loss of life the UN designated today World Humanitarian Day.
