The Libyan leader says Africans are flooding into Europe because they are chasing the riches pillaged from their countries.

Speaking to Euronews ahead of the G8 meeting in Italy, Muammar al-Gaddafi said: “There are successive waves of immigration to Europe because of the extreme poverty in Africa. Africans believe that their riches have been pillaged and this is why they chase after that wealth. They believe they have the right to work in Europe because Europe lives very well off African resources.” Gaddafi also spoke about Arab unity, and said he had hopes for an Arab-African union. The full interview will be broadcast on EuroNews this evening.
