Green shoots are literally flourishing in the agro-chemical business.

BASF, the world’s largest chemical maker, said first quarter profits beat forecasts. Analysts estimated profits of 120 million euro , -the company made a quarterly net income of over three times that amount. This was due to a particualrly good start to the growing season in Europe and North America, with sales of farming pesticides up.
