The worst seems to have been avoided after a tanker collision off Dubai, in which two sailors were thrown into the sea suffered minor injuries.
The tanker burst into flames after crashing into a container ship. It was severely damaged on the left side with a gash in its hull but there are no reports of a major spillage. The tanker, the Malteste-flagged “Kashmir,” was entering Dubai’s Jebel Ali port with 30,000 tons of oil on board, while the other ship was shuttling cargo to smaller ports when the accident happened. The ships have both been removed from the sea lanes and traffic is now sailing normally.
