Thousands of people have taken part in a funeral procession on the Gaza Strip.

Many marchers demanded vengeance and called for more suicide attacks. The dead man was a member of the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade, the armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction. The 24-year old was killed in an Israeli air strike earlier in the day. His is the first death since Gaza’s leaders, Hamas, said they wouldn’t renew a six- month old truce with Israel this week. The Israeli army said the victim was among militants launching rockets and mortars at Israel. Two other militants were critically injured in the Israeli airstrike near the town of Jabalya on the Gaza Strip. There were no casualties of the Palestinian rocket attacks. Meanwhile, at least 10 people have been injured in clashes at the Ofer jail near Ramallah in the West Bank. A prison services spokesman said the violence erupted after warders began carrying out an inspection. Inmates reacted by throwing objects and setting two tents alight. The spokesman said several prisoners were treated after inhaling tear gas and three guards were injured during the clashes.
