Germans kidnapped in Yemen

 Germans kidnapped in Yemen
Text size Aa Aa

Three Germans have been kidnapped in Yemen, in what is believed to be a row between rival tribesmen. One of the three is said to work for the United Nations. She and her visiting parents were seized near the capital Sanaa.

It is thought the kidnappers will use them as a lever to force the government to rule on a land dispute with another tribe. Foreigners have frequently been abducted in Yemen as local people press for better living conditions in what is one of the world’s poorest countries.
